The Fire Truck is a 1956 Howe Fire engine in front of old Station I, that station was opened in April 1935. Pictured in the background is St. Mary’s Hospital and Zesto ice Cream. The Fire Department began after the first Capitol in Jefferson City Burned in 1837. It was officially formed January 26, 1842. On February 5, 1911 the Second Capitol in Jefferson City was struck by lightning and burned again. The next year our Career (Paid) Fire Department was created.
Tisha Spencer, of ”Firehouse Design”, wife of Jefferson City Fireman, Scott Spencer and a former Cole County Board Member designed the 2012 Christmas Ornament celebrating a “Century of Full Time Fire Service” to the Jefferson City Community.
